TLW trip to Redhill, Durban
On Friday 14 September, five eager True Love Waiters left for Redhill, Durban. Miraculously we didn't get lost - even though we turned into a private home, thinking it was the church! Quickly realising our mistake, we spotted the beautiful church building. Upon our arrival we discovered that we were half an hour early - having even arrived before the church keys...and so TLW waited for the first time that night.
We were welcomed ever so warmly by the local church youth group. Seemingly some other church groups and a few children's homes were also present. We did the usual skit and De Vos van Straaten did the main presentation. Their response was overwhelmingly positive - especially after one local leader testified how she had signed the card before getting married 2 years ago and what a wonderful experience it was. She told the young people that it is worthwhile waiting until marriage. About 100 young people signed the pledge card and by ten o'clock the proceedings were over. The team decided to leave for home. In our excitement, the car keys got locked into the boot - ask me how we got that right... Anyhow, one young girl called the AA and we had to wait. As one young man commented that TLW is used to Waiting so another half hour won't make a big difference... Let me tell you that our TLW Chico is burglar proof. Just after eleven could we finally leave Durban. It was a wonderful experience for all of us - but especially those who could sleep in on Saturday morning. And if one looks at the lovely response we got, it was worth the waiting!
